A little bit about me...

I was really not sure what to put here - I wanted a mixture of info enough but not too much...

After going to school in Glasgow I studied Mathematics and Physics at  St Andrews University, graduating  in 1998, before working as a geophysicist with Schlumberger for 1 year. I was supposed to be working offshore at oil fields around the world but my time there coincided with a crash in the oil price so I was stuck in the office doing not a lot - which is why I started building these web pages for something to do. I quit in September 1999 and took a month off and traveled to New Zealand.

I then did an MSc in Lasers and Optoelectronics Devices at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh in October 1999.

Following this I began work at DERA (now QinetiQ) in the Photonics group (working with lasers etc as a research scientist).

I am currently enrolled as a PhD student with University College London and my work at QinetiQ counts towards this.

As you can see, I have graced (grazed) all the major sporting venues in my time: Celtic Park and Murrayfield

Places I have been to ( a bit of a poor list I know but I am working on it)

Again, I was not sure what to put in a bit about me so I thought I would add this uninteresting list.

This list does includes countries I have really spent time in (and not simply been in their airport for example!!!).

Andorra (skiing), Austria (mountain climbing), Czech Republic (sightseeing Prague), Egypt (holiday), England, Estonia (sightseeing), Finland (working and holiday), France (skiing, sun, rugby tour), Germany (RAF camp and a holiday), Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy (sightseeing, relaxing), Kenya (safari), Netherlands, New Zealand (backpacking), Northern Ireland, Norway (skiing), Poland (with the RAF), Spain (sun), Sweden, Scotland (OK - this is a cheat), U.S.A. (Florida sun, Colorado skiing, New England working), Wales (mountain walking)
